1. ABOUT YOU MAWO

Where are YOU MAWO frames produced?

Our production facility is located in Krailling, near Munich. We are proud that all materials, as well as the technical equipment, come from Germany, enabling us to guarantee the "Made in Germany" seal throughout the entire supply chain.

What material are YOU MAWO frames made from?

Our frames are made from polyamide. Originally developed for sectors such as the pharmaceutical and aerospace industries, polyamide is characterized by its lightweight structure, which is both more robust and 30% lighter than acetate. The raw material for our frames comes from Germany.

Are YOU MAWO frames suitable for customers with specific skin tolerance requirements or allergies?

Our frames are made from materials that are certified in accordance with the current ISO 10993-1 and ISO 10993-10 standards and meet all the necessary skin compatibility requirements. This applies to both the raw material and the dye used in our frames. If any of your customers have specific allergies, please let us know so that we can advise you individually.

What makes a YOU MAWO frame special?

Our frames offer optimum wearing comfort thanks to designs based on numerous facial scans. They are 30% lighter and more stable than conventional acetate. Our production in Germany ensures sustainability along the entire supply chain. Each frame is made in Germany and is available for customization on request.

Are there recommended retail prices (RRP) for YOU MAWO frames?

What is YOU MAWO Cares?

Our You Mawo Cares initiative is aimed at people with severe disabilities, Down's syndrome and autism and is designed to make it easier for them to find suitable, durable frames. The frame comes from us - for the symbolic price of 1€, the lenses are purchased separately from the optician.

Where can I download the YOU MAWO app?

You can easily download our app from the Apple Store.

Which devices are compatible with the YOU MAWO app for scanning?

Our app including scan is available for all Apple Face ID devices. Please note, however, that at least iOS 16 must be installed and the device must have Face ID.

Is it possible to save the scan and resume the order at a later time?

Yes, you can save your scan including the respective custom parameters as a session during the ordering process in the Fitting Room. This gives you the option to place the order at a later time. Feel free to watch our training video for further assistance.

Where can I find my access data for the YOU MAWO portal and how can I possibly reset my access data?

The access credentials have been sent to the email address you provided upon creating your account. This email address is likely your business email. You can locate it in your email inbox.

If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it on the YOU MAWO portal login page. Simply select 'Forgot password' and follow the instructions.

Where can I view the status of my order in the YOU MAWO portal?

To view the current status of your order, navigate to “Orders” in the portal, then to “Details” and then to “Status Log”. There you will find all relevant information about your order.

Where can I find the corresponding invoice for my order in the YOU MAWO portal?

To view the invoice for your order in the portal and download it again, follow these steps: First go to the “Orders” menu item, then select “Details” and then “Accounting”. There you will find the relevant invoice information. Alternatively, you can also click on “Get invoice” at the bottom of the page.

What can I do if the YOU MAWO app is not working?

4. CUSTOMIZATION

Which parameters can I customize with a YOU MAWO frame and what kind of product categories exist?

At YOU MAWO, we offer three product categories so that you are guaranteed to find the perfect frame.

When does it make sense to request a prototype?

Prototypes are particularly useful if you as an optician have concerns about the fit or feasibility of the fitting or if the end customer is unsure. We also recommend producing a prototype for demanding customer needs.

Can YOU MAWO sunglasses also be customized?

Sunglasses cannot be customized. With sunglasses, you can only change the color. Our designs are based on a comprehensive analysis of hundreds of faces, which in most cases already ensures that the glasses fit perfectly.

5. ORDERING AND SERVICE

Is it possible to order any model in any color from YOU MAWO?

All our colors are generally available for every frame. In exceptional cases, however, there may be limited color options. You can find the current availability on our YOU MAWO website or in the YOU MAWO portal. Please note that limited edition frames and sunglasses are occasionally available in special colors for a limited time, which do not apply to the other collections.

Is it possible to order a YOU MAWO frame with shorter or longer temples?

Yes, but as soon as a parameter is adjusted, it is a custom-made product with corresponding delivery times. If only minor adjustments are required, such as adjusting the temple length, we recommend ordering a Custom Light frame. This product category is slightly cheaper than a Personal Fit + frame.

Can I order single temples of a YOU MAWO frame?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to order single temples separately. We only produce complete frames. This enables us to avoid fluctuations in production quality between older and current produced frames.

Is it possible to order spare parts from YOU MAWO?

Yes, spare parts can be ordered. The cost of spare parts varies depending on the type of damage:

Is it possible to order a YOU MAWO frame for preview?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to order a YOU MAWO frame for preview. Due to our limited stock and Just-in-time-production. However, you can order regular frames and exchange unsold frames via our sales representative.

How long is the delivery time at YOU MAWO?

Delivery times vary depending on the type of order: 

Does YOU MAWO accept an exchange of my current stock for new models?

Unfortunately, this is generally not possible as we only have a small warehouse due to our just-in-time production. In special cases, please contact your sales representative.

Can I reorder a discontinued model from YOU MAWO?

Yes, but only in the current colors with an extended delivery time of 4-6 weeks.

6. HANDLING AND CARE

How do I glaze a YOU MAWO frame?

For our frames we recommend cold glazing from behind. We do not recommend heating the frame, as this can cause the material to expand. If then the lenses are too large, this could cause tension in the material, resulting in damage.

How can I manually adjust a YOU MAWO frame?

Use a frame warmer to heat the temple cyclically and then bend it into the desired position. We recommend a core temperature of 170-180 degrees Celsius. Then hold the temple in the desired shape for a short moment. The temple should not cool down abruptly.

Is it possible to practice the fitting of YOU MAWO frames with production reject?

Yes, we offer the option of using a reject frame to practice adjusting the frame.

How do I treat a YOU MAWO frame properly?

For daily cleaning, we recommend first using the supplied glasses cleaning tissue. You can also clean the frames under running water with a pH-neutral detergent and gently dry them. Cleaning alcohol is also an option for cleaning, but you should be careful not to leave the frames in it overnight or for several days to avoid possible damage. 

Please note that the material, color and coating of the frames are sensitive to solvents such as acetone and alcohol. 

The frames can also be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath. The cleaning time should be limited to 3-5 minutes at maximum to prevent damage to the coating.

7. WARRANTY AND COMPLAINTS

What warranty does YOU MAWO offer?

We comply with the legal warranty period of two years for the absence of defects.

How can I complain about a YOU MAWO frame?

If you wish to make a complaint about a frame, please inform us of the specific defect as soon as possible. You can do this either by e-mail to hello@youmawo.com or by telephone on +49 7531 9454535. As soon as we are informed of the defect, we will send you a replacement immediately.

In the event of a complaint within the warranty period due to defects such as color deviations, fading or breakage without external influence, we will replace the frame immediately. After receiving the replacement, please return the old frame to the following address: YOU MAWO GmbH, Macairestr. 3, 78467 Konstanz. After checking the defect, the invoice amount for the entire frame will be credited.

We will also replace the entire frame in the event of complaints due to external influences (own fault) or for frames outside the warranty period. We require a high-quality photo of the defect, which you send to us by e-mail to hello@youmawo.com. The old frame does not have to be returned in this case. You will only be charged for the damaged part.

How does YOU MAWO handle a breakage of the frame at the opticians shop?

In this case, we will cover 50% of the cost of a new frame and send it to you immediately.
